Pastor
Michael Shamblin
Michael Paul Shamblin, a United States Air Force brat, received his elementary and secondary education in Columbus, Ohio; Plattsburg, New York; and Tioga, Louisiana. Most of the educators he encountered during those formative years taught him to love school and fostered in his heart a desire for a lifetime of learning. As a result, Dr. Shamblin completed his undergraduate work at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science and Social Studies Education in 1977. In 1991, he earned a Master of Education degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with an emphasis in educational administration and supervision. Dr. Shamblin completed the requirements for the Doctor of Education degree at the University of Southern Mississippi with an emphasis in higher education in August 1998.
During a 40-year career as a professional educator, Dr. Shamblin has taught courses in biology, Bible, reproductive education, chemistry, health, physical science, physics, earth science, general science, Louisiana history, general education, adolescent psychology, secondary curriculum/instruction, assessment of instruction, and graduate classes in teacher education. He has taught those courses at Crescent City Baptist High School, Georgetown High School, Tioga High School, Hackberry High School, Rapides Regional Medical Center, Christus Cabrini Hospital, and Louisiana College. He has also coached softball, baseball, girls’ and boys’ basketball, and football. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Shamblin served as Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at Tioga High School. He served as acting Principal of Tioga High for the 1995-1996 school year. Dr. Shamblin was appointed principal of Tioga High School on June 29, 1998, the fulfillment of a longtime dream. He was principal of Aiken Optional School in Alexandria, Louisiana from 2003 to 2005, and after serving one year as Chair of the Division of Education, he was appointed the Director of Alternative Certification at Louisiana College. He was blessed to be part of developing Louisiana College’s Teacher Education Alternative Certification Honor’s (TEACH) program from a post-baccalaureate certification only program into Louisiana College’s first graduate degree, the Master of Art’s in Teaching (MAT) degree.
God called Dr. Shamblin into the preaching ministry in 1976 while he was a junior student at Louisiana College. In the years since Dr. Shamblin has taught and preached the Bible as a Sunday School teacher, Church Training teacher, youth minister, supply preacher, revival preacher, interim pastor, pastor, banquet speaker, and special event speaker in Churches throughout central Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
